2020 Carmenyeah – Heathcote, Victoria

Sold Out

Carménère is Chile’s noble grape variety however it originated in Bordeaux not that there’s much there any longer. There is even less planted here in Australia, so having meet the affable Hugh who has some on his Humis vineyard in Heathcote we thought it would be fun to make a rose from it. We did, it was good but along the way we took some juice and fermented and aged it in barrel, it was pretty out there, but we loved it so we bottled it au-natural. No fining, filtering and just a little So2 at bottling. Juicy, slippery and slurpable this like boozy Ribena.

To ensure your wine arrives at your door safely and in drinkable condition, please make sure you order it in multiples of six, as a straight or mixed case across our range.

Born

Grown by Hugh Jones on his Humis vineyard in Heathcote, one of only a handful of Carménère plantings in Australia. Destined for rose, this took a different path.

Raised

What happens when you ferment rosé juice on full solids in a barrel? Here’s your answer, not rosé, not red, a touch of oak, silky slurpable red fruit. No filtering or fining, minimal Sulpha at bottling.

Super limited only 300 bottles.
