2016 Heathcote Nebbiolo – Heathcote, Victoria

This is our fourth Heathcote Nebbiolo release. Coming from a warmer year getting the balance of alcohol and fruit right was always the challenge. We picked later than most from the Willoughby Bridge vineyard, picking on taste, not sugar. The style is classic Nebb; firm, fine tannins balanced with a vibrant, high acidity, wrapped up in a dark core of inky black fruit and leading to the morello cherry, violet and rose-like perfume.

Born

Grown on the red Cambrian soils of the Willoughby Bridge vineyard in Heathcote. Handpicked and sorted in the vineyard on 19th March 2016.

Raised

A wild fermentation in open-top fermenters with gentle plunging followed by 50 days on skins. 12 months in older oak, bottled unfiltered and unfined. A perfumed Nebb, full of morello cherries, violets and roses.
