2017 Malakoff Nebbiolo – Pyrenees, Victoria

$50.00

In 2017 we made two Nebbiolo’s, one from the regular Heathcote vineyard and wanting to experiment this from the famous Malakoff vineyard in the Pyrenees. Both were made with the same winemaking, but with this picked a week later. The Malakoff is lighter in colour, lifted bright fruit more pinot like but still with bright cherry, dried thyme, orange peel and a little eucalypt, lovely tension. A direct comparison of terrior and vineyard factors producing two very different wines.

To ensure your wine arrives at your door safely and in drinkable condition, please make sure you order it in multiples of six, as a straight or mixed case across our range.

Born

Two Nebbiolo’s were produced in 2017, with this picked a week later than the Heathcote fruit. Grown on Red ferrous clay, with quartz and ironstone seems running through the site. Planted in 2000. Handpicked and sorted in the vineyard on 27th April 2017.

Raised

A wild fermentation with gentle plunging followed by 54 days on skins. 16 months in older oak and bottled unfined result in a light, bright Nebb showing red cherry, five spice and Turkish delight.
